NFL Players who have Opted Out: 69 NFL players have opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19 concerns as opt-out deadline passes.

On July 24, the NFL and NFLPA reached an agreement which would allow players to opt-out of the upcoming season for safety reasons. Players who decided to not play were required to submit a written notice to their teams before August 6 at 4pm E.T. Since then, 69 players across the league have opted out.
Luckily for these players, they will still get paid. Those who opted out voluntarily will receive $150,000 as an advance against future salaries. Higher risk individuals, however, will be paid a larger stipend of $350,000. Not a bad paycheck considering all they have to do is watch the games on TV.

Which team is affected the most?
The simple answer to this question is the New England Patriots. Unfortunately, for head coach Bill Belichick, 8 of his players have decided to sit out the 2020 season. This is by far the highest number of opt-outs for any team in the league. Apart from the Cleveland Browns, no other team has more 3.
New England will be missing 6 players on offense alone and defensive superstars Patrick Chung and Dont’a Hightower, who have won 3 Super Bowls each, will both sit out. To add to this, the departure of Tom Brady in the offseason has left uncertainty at the quarterback position. It’s definitely safe to say the Patriots are facing a challenging year ahead.
The Miami Dolphins’ wide receiver depth chart also took a hit. Although only 2 Dolphins players will be opting out, they are both wide receivers. Allen Hurns and Albert Wilson will both miss the 2020 season, meaning that the dolphins front office has begun to explore the possibility of signing veteran wideouts in free agency.
On the bright side, 3 NFL teams – the Chargers, Falcons, and Steelers – reported that none of their players have opted out. An additional 9 franchises will each only have 1 player opting out.
