“Nikola Jokic is the Patrick Mahomes of the NBA”: Earning a Combined $767,000,000 Both Finals MVP and Super Bowl MVP Share Supernatural Passing Ability
Nikola Jokic has an innate passing ability that can only be compared to Patrick Mahomes, making him the Mahomes of the NBA. It’s a valid comparison for many reasons. For one, they both have the largest contracts in the history of the NBA and NFL respectively. Jokic signed a 5-year, $264 million deal per The Sporting News while Mahomes inked a 10-year, $503 million deal as per Fox Business. Combined, the two will be making a whopping $767 million in their careers.
If you look past the passing and money, there’s much more that brings Mahomes and Jokic together. The Denver Nuggets recently wrapped up the NBA season, gentleman sweeping the Miami Heat to win their first NBA title. Jokic was the leader behind the run, winning the Finals MVP and perhaps establishing himself as the best player in the NBA right now. Mahomes and the Chiefs also knocked off the Philadelphia Eagles earlier to win the Super Bowl with Mahomes winning his second.
So, both athletes pass incredibly, make a lot of money, and just won the title. What more justification do you need to see that they’re the equivalents of each other?
NFL analysts discuss Nikola Jokic and Patrick Mahomes’ crazy passing ability
NFL analysts were on air discussing the comparison between Nikola Jokic and Patrick Mahomes, and they were very quickly able to identify that each player has a unique passing gift.
More than his scoring, Jokic is known for creating offense for the Nuggets. He’s the primary playmaker and their leading assist maker. If you look at the way he plays and the passes he makes, it adds up. Denver’s offense runs through Jokic. Sometimes, he can make the craziest passes out of nothing.
Mahomes is the same way. He can improvise on any given play, move around in the pocket, and hit a receiver 50 yards deep without breaking a sweat.
He can throw off his back foot better than most quarterbacks in the league, and he doesn’t seem unstable while doing it either. Additionally, his incompletion highlights reel might even be more impressive than his completions.
NFL analysts on Good Morning Football discussed this supernatural ability that both players share, and it adds up. Just look at their highlight reels. They’re simply plays that nobody else in the league can make, and that’s what makes these players special.
Jokic and Mahomes deserve the big money they receive
If the last season showed anything for Jokic and Mahomes, it’s that they absolutely deserve the largest contracts in their leagues. They are the best players in their leagues, and nothing can disprove that fact.
This season, they’ll be hungry for another chance at the title. Mahomes and Jokic both have two MVPs awards to go along with the other similarities they share and if they both embark on a similar quest for dominance next season, we may see even more similarities between the two.
