Peyton Manning, the star quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts has, time and again, shown that he has a great sense of humor. Manning, along with being the most knowledgeable and skilled QB, is one of the funniest players in the league. His ‘Saturday Night Live’ appearance has proved that being funny comes naturally to him. Therefore, it is not hard to imagine that the two-time Super Bowl winner’s favorite movie genre is comedy.

Along with loving funny movies, he likes to break the ice by saying relatable phrases from popular movies. But what happens if you do not know popular phrases from his beloved films? You get punished.
Peyton Manning recounts the hilarious homework he gave to the rookie players
As many know, Archie Manning, along with his children, set up a quarterback training program a while back. Hence, in order to gel with them and make them feel comfortable, the iconic QB once tried to say phrases from popular movies. But he got no responses from them. “I’m hearing crickets. I’m getting nothing. No responses”

“I said look, ‘here’s your homework this week, I want you to watch “Vacation”, “The Jerk”, “Caddyshack”, “Stripes”, okay. Watch those movies’…They all went and watched it. They were like, ‘we didn’t really get it.’ Don’t talk to me. I’m not throwing the ball to you all week in practice.”
Anybody would be lucky to have such a cool mentor who gives playful and lighthearted homework!
The former Colts QB once asked rookies to break one of his records
Manning is one of the most respected figures in the league. His records are no joke and are increasingly hard to achieve. However, despite his super successful career, the former Colts QB did not have an impressive rookie year. The young Manning saw his team fall to 3-13.
Peyton only threw 26 touchdowns and also threw 28 interceptions. Even though he threw so many interceptions, the team did not trade him and, in fact, showed their trust when they let him stay on their squad. His 28 interceptions still remain a record for NFL rookie QBs.
When the Broncos drafted QB Drew Lock, he attended Manning’s Passing Academy. There, Lock said that he and the other rookies were given an assignment by the Pro Football Hall of Famer.

“It was all of the quarterbacks that were there at the Passing Academy, and he was talking about how he had a rough first year when he was there. He goes, ‘You know, I set the all-time interception record [for a rookie QB], and I’m waiting for one of you to [expletive] break that for me! If anyone wants to do it, please go right ahead and get that done for me!’” Manning claimed.
Hence, this shows the willingness of ‘The Sheriff’ to make fun of himself and his penchant for holding NFL records.
