JuJu Smith-Schuster

JuJu Smith-Schuster is back everyone. Smith-Schuster was very happy after re-signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers on a one year, $8 million deal.

The four year pro is back with the Steelers after hearing offers from various teams across the free agency period. Smith-Schuster is definitely a threat as a receiver, and Pittsburgh fans will be happy to know he’s back for the 2021-22 NFL season.

JuJu Smith-Schuster Stats & Career

Make no mistake, Schuster is a great receiver. He’s had a few down years after an exception 2018-19 campaign, but he’s still a playmaker, and he he’d be a great addition to any passing game.

As a rookie, Schuster burst out on to the scene with a solid 917 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. He followed that up with an unreal 1,426 yards and another seven touchdowns in 2018-19 in just 13 starts! Those numbers earned him Pro Bowl honors, and the receiver was looking like he was going to be a super star in the league.

Unfortunately, his last two years haven’t been the best. Playing in only 12 games in the 2019-20 season, Schuster posted only 552 yards. Last season he showed glimpses of the player he used to be, hauling in 831 yards and a career high nine touchdowns. Nevertheless, his stats over his four years in the NFL are something to gawk at.

Evidently, he has a lot of potential, and if he can show the Steelers that he’s still that same superstar he was in his first two NFL seasons, then his one year deal will likely turn into a long-term extension.

Did JuJu Get Other Offers With More Money?

Many teams were vying for the privilege of having a talented wideout like Schuster on their squad. However, ultimately, the Steelers were able to wrestle him away, despite offering less money.

The Ravens, for example, offered Schuster five million more, ready to pay him $13 million for one year. Similarly, the Chiefs, a perennial Super Bowl contender, offered him more money, while the Philadelphia Eagles were ready to give Schuster a longer deal.

However, it looks loyalty isn’t dead yet in the NFL.

Does This Mean More JuJu Smith-Schuster Tik Toks?

The Steelers star receiver went viral last year for posting Tik Toks throughout the NFL season. The most famous of these included his dancing to the “Corvette Corvette” song on opposing teams’ logos.

After the Steelers went on a massive three game losing streak (after starting the year 11-0 mind you), the receiver’s ritual became more of a meme than anything. Twitter hounded Schuster for his antics before the game, and he quickly became the laughing stock of the league.

The situation got so bad to the point where he was receiving backlash from his own coach who called it disrespectful. Schuster eventually stopped his pre-game ritual, but by then the damage was done. Hopefully, in a prove-it kind of deal, Schuster recreates his image, and goes from the “Tik Tok Star” of the NFL to a legitimate star.
