“They Tried To Damage Your Reputation, You Saved Theirs”: Michael Thomas Embraces The Diva Within Him With A Cryptic Tweet Blasting New Orleans Saints

Michael Thomas

Michael Thomas is the latest wide receiver turned diva with the way he’s been “destroying” the New Orleans Saints on social media.

Thomas is one of the best receivers in the game when healthy, but that’s been the issue lately. He hasn’t been healthy. Thomas missed most of last season with an ankle injury. He started in only five games.

Coming off a record setting year the season before, it was a little disappointing to see Thomas struggle to keep himself on the field, but the expectation was that he’d recover in time for the 2021-22 NFL season. As of right now, that doesn’t look like it’ll be the case.

Michael Thomas Throws Shade At The New Orleans Saints For  Damaging His Reputation

Recently, the Saints WR1 hasn’t been on the greatest of terms with his team. While Thomas was expected to make a full recovery and be back in time for the start of next season, that certainly won’t be the case.

Why? Well, Michael Thomas severely delayed the timetable for his return by undergoing surgery on his foot in June, really late into the year and pretty close to the start of training camps.

Of course, that made the New Orleans Saints incredibly upset with his behavior. The Saints and head coach Sean Payton revealed that Thomas had been absent from the team throughout the summer, not answering calls from his trainers, wide receiver coach, and Sean Payton, remaining distant.

Payton had the following to say:

“It appears we’re going to have to spend some time without him. It’s disappointing. We would have liked that to have happened earlier. And quite honestly, it should have. I’m going to leave it at that.”

You can clearly tell that Payton is furious by his tone and word choice here. He’s trying to maintain a calm image, but “it should have” is incredibly telling of which side of the Michael Thomas drama he’s on.

Saints GM Mickey Loomis echoed Payton’s thoughts:

“With hindsight, we would have preferred that surgery to be earlier, in February or March. But it wasn’t. It is what it is. Hopefully he’s had a good result so far and we can get him back sooner rather than later.”

In response to all this, Thomas had his own side of the story to tell:

Well, Thomas didn’t exactly explain what his side of the story is, but you can tell there’s a lot of tension between the two sides right now. It is safe to wonder if Thomas will return to the Saints after this year as all the tension seems to be coming to a head.
