Tom Brady

Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ star QB Tom Brady will not be very happy this week. Along with the prospect of facing a strong Dallas Cowboys in a few hours, he has also practically lost a truckload of money. Having already lost a lot this season, Brady will surely not be very enthusiastic about hearing this news. Especially when he needs to focus on what could be start of his redemption arc.

Brady, whose net worth currently stands at $250 million, used to be a prominent booster for FTX, a company that dealt with cryptocurrency. With over a million shares in the company, Brady was certainly banking on the cryptocurrency wave engulfing the world. However, things did not go to plan at all, after a digital bank run led to FTX’s collapse, and things only got worse.

It was soon revealed that FTX was illegally siphoning money to fund its sister company, Alameda Research. Alameda served as FTX’s primary market maker, making this relationship even more complicated, and definitely illegal. Tom Brady will surely not appreciate this turn of events, and he will also not appreciate the new CEO’s prediction.

John J. Ray III, who is currently taking care of the company, said last month, “At the end of the day, we’re not going to be able to recover all of the losses here”. The owner, Sam Bankman-Fried, was arrested las month in the Bahamas, and will be prosecuted once his extradited to the US.

Tom Brady and more suffer heavy losses after crypto giant FTX’s collapse

While Tom Brady has definitely suffered a massive loss through FTX’s collapse, he is not the only one. His ex-wife Gisele Bundchen also had around 600,000 shares with the company. Patriots’ owner and Brady’s friend, Rober Kraft, also had a significant stake in the company. All three will be having sleepless nights over John Ray’s words.

Brady particularly will not be having a good day. With his underperforming Buccaneers hosting a significantly stronger Cowboys on Monday, he will need his complete focus on the game. The Bucs only managed to get into the playoffs thanks to their division rivals being worse than them. A team that many confidently claimed would be a Super Bowl contender, ended up as one of the least favorites to even win their conference.

Brady has had a terrible year, and a terrible season. His return to football did not end up like the fairytale he was probably hoping it would be. His wife left him, and his performance has been anything but Brady-esque. In fact, winning the division is the only good thing to happen to him this year.

This means Brady has one last shot at salvaging his reputation this year. However, that redemption arc starts with facing the Cowboys at home. It is definitely not going to be easy, as the Cowboys have been a dominant force this season. Even with Dak Prescott leading the league in interceptions thrown, their offense and defense are still dangerous beasts.

The only thing in Brady’s favor heading into this fixture, is his record against the Cowboys. He has faced the Dallas outfit 7 times before and has won every single time. This will certainly play in the minds of the Cowboys’ players, and Brady will surely try to make the most of that.  Will he extend his record against the Cowboys? Or is this where the Cowboys finally get their revenge on the legend?
