Hard Knocks is coming back this year, and there’s a whole lot of excitement around the show as the Dallas Cowboys are set to feature in it.

The most-watched show during NFL Training Camp, Hard Knocks is set to feature “America’s Team” for the third time in their 20 year history.

The show started in 2001 which means this year will mark the 20th anniversary of the HBO Sports’ annual special. The Cowboys previously featured in the show in 2002 and 2008.

So, what exactly is Hard Knocks though?

What Is Hard Knocks In The NFL? What Is The HBO Sports’ Series About As The Dallas Cowboys Are Set To Make An Appearance?

As mentioned above, the 2021 season of Hard Knocks will mark the 20th year of the show’s production. Since its debut, Hard Knocks has won 18 Sports Emmy Awards. Its most recent participants included the Los Angeles Chargers and Rams as the film crew showcased how the COVID-19 pandemic affected the offseason.

The show basically provides us viewers with insight about the upcoming season for a particular team. This year that team will be the Dallas Cowboys. Training camp is usually when key roster decisions are made, new players are integrated to their new teams, and the background is set for the upcoming season.

The episodes will provide an “unfiltered all-access look” at the Cowboys’ practices in  Oxnard, California, training camp.

The NFL released a statement saying that the production team will provide over 1,750 hours of footage as they’ll have unencumbered access to players’ and coaches’ meeting rooms, training rooms, living quarters and practice fields.”

The Broncos, Cardinals, Giants, and Cardinals were among the other candidates considered for this year’s edition, but HBO and NFL Films chose to roll with the Cowboys. NFL Films VP Ken Rogers said:

“The Cowboys felt like the right team this year. And certainly Jerry Jones and the Cowboys were excited to do it, because Mr. Jones is on the forefront of the league’s effort to get us back on the field. What better way to rebound from America’s tough 2020?”

When Will ‘Hard Knocks’ Start? How Long Will Hard Knocks Last? Schedule For HBO Sports’ Series

The HBO Sports’ series will occupy a five week long period from the date it releases, running from August 10th to September 7th.

The show will release a new episode every Tuesday night at 10 p.m. ET. There will be five episodes in total with each episode lasting for an hour. Encore showings will take place every Wednesday night.

How Can You Watch Hard Knocks NFL?

The HBO series will be available to those who have subscribed to HBO or HBO Max. Further streaming options should become available closer to the release date, but as this is an HBO production, it’s likely that you will need either HBO or HBO Max to watch Hard Knocks.
