"Will They Fine the Refs?": NFL Admitting to Colts Owner Jim Irsay About Terrible In-Game Calls Against Browns Results in an Uproar on X

Bad ref calls once again hogged the spotlight during the Colts vs Browns matchup on Sunday. The impassioned Colts lost to the Cleveland Browns in a hard-fought clash on Sunday. However, the spotlight once more turned to the refs instead of the players and the game.

A similar situation occurred during the Dolphins matchup against the Phillies. However, Colts owner Jim Irsay revealed that the NFL admitted that wrong calls were made during the Sunday clash against the Browns. Reacting to this, fans had a lot to say about the “bad calls” on social media.

Fans in a Frenzy as NFL Admits to Wrong Calls

While social media was abuzz with the unfairness of those calls, Colts owner Jim Isray sparked further controversy by letting it slip on Twitter that the league itself admitted to the folly. According to Irsay, the NFL “admits and understands that they did not make the correct calls at the end of Sunday’s Colts/Browns Game.”

The 64-yo further presented a solution to the conundrum of bad ref calls and said, “I believe we need to institute Instant Replay for all calls, including Penalties, in the last two minutes of All Games.”

Brobible editor Dov Kleiman reported on the “unfair” calls during the matchup, and subsequently on Irsay’s comment, saying, “The NFL admits to #Colts owner Jim Irsay that they did not make the correct calls during the end of the #Browns game.” This revelation led to a further frenzy on social media, with fans blasting the Refs and one even asking for them to be fined. This is how some fans reacted:

Indianapolis Colts Robbed of a Close Victory Due to Wrong Calls?

In the closing moments of Sunday’s Brown-Colts game, two contentious officiating decisions ended up costing the Colts victory. Cornerback Darell Baker Jr. found himself penalized for illegal contact, followed closely by a defensive pass interference call. These calls, especially the latter which occurred in the end zone on a high and arguably uncatchable pass, ultimately led to the 1-yard line placement of the ball. That ultimately paved the way for Cleveland’s game-winning TD in their thrilling 39-38 victory.

The NFL’s alleged admittance legitimizes the claims that the calls made at the end of the game were the wrong calls. However, Irsay could be in hot water with the league as he apparently violated NFL rules. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero revealed that team officials aren’t allowed to share how post-game conversations with the NFL go when it comes to officiating.
