Lavonte David

Tampa Bay Buccaneer’s star LB Lavonte David recently said that the Chiefs “couldn’t match our level” in the Super Bowl. Shannon Sharpe was furious with the LB for not keeping the same energy after their regular season loss against the very same Chiefs.

What happened in Super Bowl 55?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers ran riot over the defending Super Bowl Champions in the ultimate game of the season. The Kansas City Chiefs were defeated 31-9 in a game that was as one-sided as the score suggests.

The Buc’s defence terrorised Patrick Mahomes all game long, and Mahomes ended the game as the most pressured QB in Super Bowl history. He was sacked 3 times and threw 2 interceptions in the worst game of his otherwise storied career.

The Chiefs were playing the game without their 2 starting offensive tackles. But to the Buccaneer defences credit, the Bucs would have probably stil won the game regardless.

Shannon Sharpe was livid with Lavonte David

“I mean it’s easy to say after you’ve won. But I never heard Lavonte David. I never heard anybody say anything after the first matchup. Shannon went on to tear David apart. “In 9 years I never heard Lavonte David say one word.”

Shannon Sharpe didn’t disrespect or take away any credit from David’s game. Sharpe spoke high praise for what the LB did to limit the high powered offence of the Chiefs to only 9 points. But was furious with Lavonte for talking after they were kings of the NFL and not when they were losing.

“Michael Jordan used to say don’t talk after the game. Be that man to talk before the game and I’d have more respect for you. The shots did not stop there. Shannon also asked Skip Bayless,” Give me one quote from Lavonte David in 9 years before Tom Brady stepped foot in Tampa Bay.”

After a very successful off season till now, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are locked and loaded to repeat as champions of the world. And with this time being the favourites, maybe the Bucs will keep the trash talking to before the game.
