Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but the Seattle Seahawks have too often fumbled the ball when it comes to his prime according to Max Kellerman.

The Seahawks looked like they were building the next NFL dynasty when they appeared in back to back Super Bowls in 2013 and 2014. They had the best defense in the league at the time, one of the brightest young quarterbacks, and a head coach who brought a winning culture to the city.

Fast forward seven years, and the Seahawks haven’t made it back to the Super Bowl since their crushing defeat to the New England Patriots in 2014 (when they famously chose not to run the ball at the one yard line, leading to Malcolm Butler’s game winning interception).

The dry spell has gone on far too long for Seattle, and it makes fans wonder if the Seahawks are really wasting away the prime years of their franchise star in Russell Wilson.

The Seahawks Are Wasting Away One Of The Greatest Primes In NFL History With Russell Wilson According To Max Kellerman

The biggest issue with how the Seahawks have managed Russell Wilson’s situation is with the offensive line. Wilson has repeatedly had to find the magician inside of him to make something out of nothing as the pocket collapses so easily around him.

In Wilson’s nine year career, he has been sacked a whopping 394 times. That already places him just two sacks behing Peyton Manning who played 17 seasons in the league.

He’s been sacked an average of 43.8 times per season, the most in NFL history. He’s already on pace to break Brett Favre’s record of most sacks if he plays another three years.

This disappointment with the offensive line had many people pegging Wilson to leave the Seahawks this offseason as trade rumors ran rampant around the star.

Currently, the Seahawks’ best offensive lineman, Duane Brown, is participating in a holdout as he expects the Seahawks to pay him what he thinks he deserves. Max Kellerman pointed out that this issue is a perfect representation of why the Seahawks have wasted Wilson’s prime.

The Seahawks lost in a very disappointing fashion to the Los Angeles Rams last year, and the pressure is on to keep Wilson happy by assembling a team that could be making another trip to the Super Bowl soon.
