Bills GM Finally Reflects on the 'Blunder' That Allowed Chiefs to Secure Xavier Worthy at No.28 in NFL Draft

The former Texas Longhorns wide receiver, Xavier Worthy, broke the NFL Combine’s 40-yard dash record, making him the fastest player in the league. Since then, he has not only caught the attention of NFL coaches and managers but also gained a massive fan following.

As Worthy’s football stardom rises, he is also diving into the world of social media with his very own YouTube channel under his name. Just two days back, he uploaded his debut video which was a vlog that gave us a glimpse into his daily life.

The video kicks off with him heading to the Texas Longhorns facility, where he excitedly picks up his Bowl gear and other essentials. Furthermore, he takes his fans on a tour, walking through every corridor of the facility that pops up into different rooms, while also catching up with his Texas teammates along the way.

He bumped into teammates Johntay Cook II and Morice Blackwell Jr. and met with his Texas WR Coach and Passing Game Coordinator, Chris Jackson. Xavier made it a point to greet them warmly by giving each a handshake or a hug. Moreover, in his vlog, he also gave them shoutouts by calling out their names and Instagram handles so his fans could follow them.

Leaving the facility, Xavier headed to his workout session at Kollective, right in Austin. He meets his trainer, Tim Riley, with a friendly greeting before diving into an intense session of sprints and weightlifting. After the workout, Tim gives a tour of the facility, showcasing the shared workspace, training area, and recovery zone, all located under one roof.

Later, Xavier Worthy swings by Aisle 5, a local store in Austin, to pick up a few things. Then, it’s off to one of the biggest moments of his life—to give an interview on ESPN’s SportsCenter.

Who Inspired Xavier Worthy’s NFL Journey?

During the SportsCenter interview, Xavier Worthy was asked about his childhood NFL hero. He mentioned former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Desean Jackson, expressing how Jackson’s style of play inspired his love for football, especially when he played for the Eagles.

“Desean Jackson. He was my idol growing up, and that’s probably the only reason I really watched the Eagles. He just cut down and really made me love football.”

He also shared that he and Jackson recently connected after Worthy broke the NFL Combine’s 40-yard dash record. Jackson congratulated him and expressed his interest in collaborating on workout videos for Worthy’s YouTube channel which he recently started in February 2024.

In his second attempt at the 2024 Combine, Worthy blazed through the 40-yard dash in just 4.21 seconds, breaking John Ross III’s previous record of 4.22 set in 2017. Alongside this feat, his other combine stats were equally impressive with a lightning-fast 1.49 seconds for the 10-yard split, a 41-inch vertical jump, and a remarkable 10 feet 11 inches broad jump.

With his exceptional performance, he’s now firmly on the radar of NFL teams and is expected to be drafted either by the end of the first round or early in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft.
