With the festive season in full swing, teams are looking forward to celebrating Christmas with their fans and players. And a team that desperately needs a boost of morale in its ranks is the Denver Broncos. A disastrous season leaves them on 4-10 and out of a playoff spot. To make amends, the Broncos took to other means to cheer their squad and fans up. And it might have just worked.

The Broncos, with help from CBS,  pulled a simple yet funny prank on its players this week, wherein they were introduced to a “Christmas-themed” jersey for their game on Dec 26. With cameras in every corner of the room, the Broncos staff placed a mannequin wearing the jersey and helmet, with spare jerseys folded neatly in a pile nearby. A note right next to it read “Denver Broncos Christmas Game Uniforms”.

Players walking through the room had some pretty hilarious reactions to the sudden jolt they received. Although a few were able to figure the prank out, a lot more had a mix of shock and surprise on their faces. One player even said, “You can have my game check, I’m not wearing that sh**”.

The Broncos are not alone in this act, though. Their rivals on Dec. 26, the Los Angeles Rams, also had their own “Christmas-themed” kit prank, thanks to CBS. And the reactions were not much different on that side too. Safe to say, we won’t be seeing these jerseys in action anytime soon.

Fans amused as Denver Broncos prank players with Christmas-themed kits

The Broncos drew a similar response from fans with their Christmas jersey prank. Fans were amused at how the players reacted to the jersey, and a few actually found them to be good enough for a night under the floodlights. Unfortunately for them, the Broncos might just go bankrupt if they sport these jerseys, considering no one would wear them without getting paid more.

With the Broncos and the Rams out of playoff contention, their remaining games will be more of a fight for pride, if nothing more. The Rams, as defending Super Bowl champions, have had a massive fall from grace. Added to that, they will probably not be able to get Odell Beckham jr. back, adding salt to their already deep wounds.

For the Broncos, the next few games are nothing more than a practice session. Their star man, Russell Wilson, has a chance to play without pressure, get his bearings together, and show fans why he deserves to be on a $242 million contract. If he can make a comeback, the off-season will be an interesting time for the Broncos.

Either way, this season goes for them, the off-season will see them desperately trying to fix their problems. Both teams will be hoping to return next season with a stronger team. Will any of them be lucky enough to get a Super Bowl contending lineup next season?
