Number one contender’s match set for SmackDown set for next week
This week’s edition of SmackDown saw slight animosity in the seemingly ever-lasting bond between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.
After the duo complained about their WWE Championship match at Royal Rumble which saw the champion AJ Styles retain his title after pinning the wrong guy, SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan admitted the blunder and set the main event for SmackDown.
The duo of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were booked to face the Royal Rumble winner Shinsuke Nakamura and WWE Champion AJ Styles, The GM added that the duo will face off each other with the winner facing AJ Styles at Fastlane for the title.
The main event saw the former NJPW stars pick up the victory with Zayn leaving Owens’ side which saw “The Prizefighter” being the bait and failing to overcome the duo.
It was initially rumoured that the main event for the SmackDown exlusive show Fastlane would be a Fatal Five Way match for the title. As per current plans it looks like a one-on-one match at the event as per the storyline.
It would be intriguing to see how the WWE will try to make the event more interesting which does not get much attention after gathering the reputation as a filler PPV before WrestleMania.
What do you think should be the plan for the prestigious title at Fastlane? Let us know in the comments section.
