Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: Manchester United manager confirms Paul Pogba's future

Solskjaer talked about the future of Paul Pogba at Manchester United in the pre-match conference for the game against Chelsea at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are going through a rough patch at the moment.

The side registered a 0-2 defeat to city rivals Manchester City in the Premier League this week, merely three days after suffering a 4-0 loss to Everton at Goodison Park.

The side is already out of the FA Cup and the Champions League, and faces an uphill task to secure a top-4 position in the Premier League. But the club is facing an off-the-field crisis as well.

Players like Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku have hinted at ‘dream moves’ away from Manchester United in the recent past. The French midfielder has extensively been linked with a transfer to Real Madrid, and Solskjaer was quizzed about the current situation with Pogba.

Solskjaer on Paul Pogba:

The Manchester United manager stated that he expects Pogba to remain at Old Trafford in the next season.

“You can’t guarantee anything in football but yes, I think Paul is gonna be here,” Solskjaer said. “I can assure you he’s now very determined to succeed at Man United.”

He was also asked about the recent criticism for the player among the media and the internet. Pogba’s performances dipped ever since the first leg of the round-0f-16 tie against Paris Saint Germain at Old Trafford. However, the midfielder is still the highest-scoring player at the club and has been included in the PFA Premier League team of the year.

“That’s just the standards he sets because when he’s creating chances, scoring goals, he’s doing loads of work, that’s just media, that’s supporters, that’s everyone looks to Paul: Could you have done better?

“He’s done fantastic for us, he’s a human being as well, he’s human, and we’re all the same, we want him to do well, he’s a leader in that dressing room and on the pitch for us.”
