Ousmane Dembele injury: Barcelona forward suffers yet another injury setback prolonging his spell in the medical room.

Ousmane Dembele has suffered yet another injury on his road to recovery from the previous one. The 22-year old has been out since November 27 since Barcelona’s 3-1 win at the Camp Nou over his former club Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League group stage.

The French forward was initially ruled out for 10 weeks and was expected to return soon. He was in the final stages of his recovery and had even begun his training with the first team. However, Barcelona have now confirmed that a muscle fatigue will keep him out from the side once again.

Barcelona confirm Ousmane Dembele Injury

“Tests performed this morning on Dembélé have shown that the player has a complete rupture of the proximal tendon of the femoral biceps of the right thigh. In the next few hours it will be determined what treatment will be followed for his recovery” Barcelona wrote on their Twitter.

There has been no time frame regarding his return. However, Barcelona will feel rather gutted by the news having lost Luis Suarez to a long-term injury last month. To make matters worse, the club did not purchase anyone in the recently concluded transfer window.

New Barcelona boss Quique Setien had previously spoken on Dembele’s return being as good as a winter signing as the club try to fill the void left by Suarez.

“We are delighted with Dembele. He can be the winter signing,” he said. “You never know how things happen and we always think positively. It’s clear that his recovery will come in handy.”
