French midfielder Paul Pogba reportedly met Barca’s Eric Abidal in the United States, and the player’s agent now is working out a move to the Catalan club.

Paul Pogba was one of the World Cup’s standout performers following France’s victory. Apart from his goal in the final against Croatia, the 25 year old delivered dominant displays in the centre of the park throughout the entire competition.

His wonderful displays on international level have made him a hot property in the transfer market with Barcelona and Juventus ready to battle it out for his signing. The Red Devil has been on bad terms with Jose Mourinho since the business end of last season and also denied the manager’s request of returning early for training to help a depleted United squad.

Pogba also met Eric Abidal, Barcelona’s sporting director, in Los Angeles as per reports. The Catalans identify him as a replacement for Andres Iniesta and have placed him on top of their wish list. Pogba’s name comes first in a list that consisted of the likes of Willian, Adrien Rabiot and Marco Veratti.

The Frenchman is looking to leave United after two disappointing years and his agent Mino Raiola is pushing for a move.

Paul Pogba’s agent was spotted in Barcelona a few weeks ago and thought to have offered his client to the Camp Nou’s hierarchy. Barcelona will reportedly sign Pogba in the coming week for a transfer fee of nearly 150 million pounds.

Ernesto Valverde was also full of praise for Pogba and did little to shrug off rumours about the potential transfer. He said: “Pogba is a great player who is on another team. We are respectful with players who are in other clubs. I will not enter to evaluate. We respect the player and the club he is in.”

Barcelona have already managed to recruit the likes of Clement Lenglet, Arthur, Malcom and Arturo Vidal in the transfer window. Meanwhile, the dead weight consisting of Paco Alcacer and Andre Gomes among others is set to be cleared. Aleix Vidal already left the club after a difficult spell.
