Toby Alderweireld’s Injury : Mourinho Provides Update On Toby Alderweireld’s Injury: Tottenham defender limped away from the encounter in the closing stages of the fixture
On what was an otherwise impeccable and immaculate night for Tottenham, injury to CB Toby Alderweireld emerged as a cause of concern to the club. The defender departed from the encounter against Manchester City in the tailend of the tie with the player clearly in ample discomfort as he left the pitch.
Mourinho Gives Update On The Injury
According to Tottenham’s manager Mourinho, things don’t look rosy for the defender. He said the defender had suffered a bad abductor injury and although only further scans will reveal the timeline on his return, the initial prognosis doesn’t look too promising.
“It’s bad. It’s a muscular injury. We have three centre-backs in the Premier League but not in the Europa League where we don’t have Joe Rodon. There’s nobody to blame. He played in matches for Belgium they needed to win. It’s just one of those things,” Mourinho said elaborating on the injury.

Barring the defeat, Tottenham endured a perfect day out in the middle. In what was a resilient show of defending on the club, the side defended its lead with vigour and robustness after Son opened the scoring inside the first five minutes before Giovanni Lo Celso went onto double the advantage 35 seconds after coming on as a substitute.
The only took Tottenham to the top of the points tally with the club recording its fourth successive triumph in the league. Although still early days in the league, many are labelling Tottenham as one of the clubs capable of launching a serious fight for the glistening title given their electric start.
The London based club will partake in the Europa League in the ensuing week before the side returns to the Premier League to take on city rivals Chelsea next weekend.
