Jose Mourinho Falling Out Of Favour With Tottenham’s “bored and frustrated” Squad

Jose Mourinho Downplays Liverpool’s Injury Crisis Ahead Of Tottenham’s Showdown With The Club: The Tottenham manager said Liverpool faced no injury conundrum ahead of the top of the table clash

He’s hardly known to keep things straightforward and Jose Mourinho once again showed why his outspoken manner has seen him emerge as the source of such criticism across the years. Speaking ahead of his side’s fixture against Liverpool in gameweek 13, the Tottenham manager went onto claim that Liverpool had no serious injuries and any such claims were unfounded.

Liverpool who are currently missing out on the services of almost 10 regular team players owing to lengthy injuries have been one of the unluckiest sides when it comes to injuries this season. The club recently saw Jota and Tsimikas both be ruled out for the next couple of months with Joel Matip emerging as a fresh doubt ahead of their fixture.

However, Jose Mourinho was having none of that. The Tottenham man claimed that the talk around Liverpool’s injury turmoil was unsubstantiated and that the club was having all of its playing 11 at its disposal.

Mourinho said: “I think Alisson is not injured, Alexander-Arnold is not injured and Matip, I believe he is going to play. Fabinho is not injured. Robertson is not injured. Henderson is not injured. Wijnaldum is not injured. Salah is not injured. Firmino is not injured. And Mane is not injured.

“Van Dijk is injured and Van Dijk is a very good player, of course. But give me Liverpool’s list of injuries and compare that list of injuries to what the best Liverpool team is.

“I can give you a list of injuries at Tottenham. We have two kids from the U16s with injuries., we have two others in the U21s and we have three in the U23s. We have Lamela and Tanganga so here you have a list of 10 players.

“But is Lloris injured? No. Is Alderweireld injured? No. Is Dier injured? No. Is Reguilon injured? No. Is Harry Kane injured? No. Is Son injured? No. Is Lucas injured? No. So where are the injuries?

“There are injuries as normal. It’s normal! James Milner is injured like Lamela is injured. Every club has injuries now and again. Liverpool have a big injury and that’s Van Dijk.”

The comments have clearly not gone down well with Liverpool supporters who were quick to lament Mourinho’s outlandish claims. The club has been fraught with injuries since the onset of the 2020-21 season with all of Liverpool have Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota out injured, whilst Joel Matip came off at half-time in the 1-1 draw against Fulham.
