Prime Minister Modi is a well known social media enthusiast. He has often used this platform to communicate and listen to any grievances of the people. This has given Modi an image of an approachable minister, which has been a refreshing change from the previous men in charge of the nation. So yesterday evening, after Sai Praneeth won the Thailand Open, people were quick to notice as Prime Minister Modi congratulates B Sai Praneeth on Twitter.

Sai Praneeth completed a brilliant come-from-behind win to lift the $120,000 Thailand Open Super Series. Praneeth claimed a very tough 17-21, 21-18, 21-19 victory against Christie Jonatan of Indonesia in Bangkok.

This was his maiden Grand Prix gold, six weeks after winning the Singapore Open Super Series. This is what Sai Praneeth had to say after his superb win.

“It was a very difficult and close match. I am happy that I managed to pull it off and win the title,” said Praneeth, adding that he had focused a lot on the rallies. “The rallies were going too long. But I tried to build up the lead and win point after point,” he added. Despite winning two titles on trot, Praneeth thinks he needs to be more consistent. “I am playing well now but I know that I need to be more consistent, win more titles,” said Praneeth, who credited his victory to his coach Pullela Gopichand, family, relatives and all those who helped him in the Academy.

And Prime Minister Modi took to Twitter to congratulate Sai Praneeth,

“Congratulations to B Sai Praneeth for wining the Thailand Open badminton tournament. India is elated on the accomplishment: PM @narendramodi,” tweeted the official handle of the Prime Minister.
