Rafael Nadal will have a statue for himself at Roland Garros
In a few days we’ll have our new Roland Garros Champion. Rafa fans are desperately waiting for his ‘la Decima’. 10th victory or not the French tennis federation chief Bernard Giudicelli announced that the tournament will construct a statue in honor of the King of Clay, that was described as a “Monster” by Giudicelli.
“He will have a statue at the Roland Garros, you cannot do anything but immortalize him.”

This was announced by Giudicelli during the Eurosport programme “Avantage Leconte”. The honor is bestowed to recognize Rafa who has won a record 9 title on this court.
At the Roland Garros there are already statues in honor of Suzanne Lenglen (there is also a stadium named after her) and the four Musketeers, it means Jean Borotra, Jacques Brugnon, Henri Cochet and René Lacoste. Early this year at the Australian Open in Melbourne a statue of Rod Laver was opened.
This comes as an early birthday present for the Spaniard who celebrates his 31st birthday tomorrow, 3rd June. Rafa already has a stadium named after him at Barcelona. Now he’ll have a statue as well to memorialize his efforts for tennis.
