Rashford on ‘mad-dog’ comment: The Manchester United youngster has responded to Mourinho’s comments after the Southampton game.
Manchester United are currently 6th in the Premier League. The side registered an emphatic victory against Fulham on Saturday, as they beat Claudio Ranieri’s men 4-1.
The club has had a difficult run since the end of the international break last month. Before the Fulham clash, United were winless in their last three league games. They were held to a 2-2 draw by relegation-threatened Southampton, and Mourinho criticised his players for not being the ‘mad dogs.’
Marcus Rashford, however, was exempted from this criticism. The youngster shined for United on an otherwise dismal night for the reds, as he assisted both the goals for United.
The 21-year old forward has now responded on Mourinho’s comments.
Rashford on ‘mad dog’ comment:
The Manchester United forward stated that United have struggled throughout the season, and it is important for players to step up.
“In the position we’re in, when it’s difficult and we’re not playing our best football, that has to be the thing you do first and foremost,” Marcus Rashford said.
Marcus Rashford on being a mad dog: ‘In the position we’re in, when it’s difficult and we’re not playing our best football, that has to be the thing you do first and foremost…whatever happens, go out there and give 110% so when you come off the pitch you have no regrets.’ #mufc

“Whatever happens, go out there and give 110% so when you come off the pitch you have no regrets,” the forward added.
Marcus Rashford has scored 3 goals in the league so far, and assisted for 5 goals in the English top flight this season. He also scored in a 4-1 drubbing of Fulham last weekend.

Mourinho earlier stated that Manchester United lacks ‘mad dogs’ – implying that the players don’t play with intensity.
Mourinho dragged some of our most talented players, kicking and screaming into the old philosophy.
That if you put the effort in. Then the skill will take care of itself.
Shaw, Martial, and finally Rashford,
a testament to that.

“It doesn’t matter about the system. It has to do with the characteristics of the players and we don’t have many, with all the respect, mad dogs – the ones who bite the ball all the time and press all the time. We don’t have many with that spirit,” Mourinho said.
What next?
Manchester United will travel to Spain where they take on Valencia in their final Champions League game. Jose Mourinho’s side has already qualified for the round-of-16 of the European tournament, and the manager confirmed after the game against Fulham that Pogba and Andreas Pereira will be among the starters for the match.
United will return to Premier League action with the heavyweight clash against Liverpool.
