Washington Sundar

After a lukewarm auction on day one, RCB entered the second day with much gusto, as they tried to beef up their squad with Indian talent.

This is how the RCB squad looked after the first day of the IPL auction.

Virat Kohli (retained 17 c), AB de Villiers (retained 11 c), Sarfraz Khan (retained 3 c), Brendon McCullum (3.6 c), Chris Woakes (7.4 c), Colin de Grandhomme (2.2 c), Moeen Ali (1.7 c), Quinton de Kock (2.8 c), Umesh Yadav (4.2 c), Yuzvendra Chahal (6 c), Manan Vohra (1.1 c), Kulwant Kejroliya (85 Lakh), Aniket Choudhary (30 Lakh), Navdeep Saini (3 c).

RCB need a couple of Indian batsmen and bowlers, as they are a little light on their homegrown contingent. In Woakes, de Grandhomme and Ali, the Bengaluru outfit have three solid foreign all-rounders in their squad.

But there is a major hole in their middle order, as they need more than Vohra to be considered among the favourites for the title.

RCB went hard in the auction and bought retained Pawan Negi for just Rs 1 crore, which was a real steal for them. But they spent that money on eighteen-year old Washington Sundar.

The young off-spinner has quickly made a name for himself over the past few years, as Sundar has risen through the ranks and even played for India last December.

With the likes of Gotham going for over Rs 6 crores, Sundar provides great value for money at just Rs 3.2 crores.

A spin combination of Chahal and Sundar can become a lethal combination for RCB, as the Bengaluru outfit are slowly but surely building a potent bowling attack in addition to their magical duo of Kohli and AB de Villiers at the top.
