RCB confirm AB de Villiers for the next game, Quinton de Kock to fly back
RCB fans can feel elated as their star player AB de Villiers would be back for the game against CSK on Saturday. ABD had to sit out the last two games due to viral fever and would be seen back in action against the MS Dhoni led Chennai side.
However, there were speculations about who would be the other overseas player that would be dropped in place of the Superman from South Africa. This headache seems to have solved itself as ABD’s compatriot Quinton de Kock has flown back to South Africa.
Hence, he would be unavailable for the game against CSK. RCB Coach Daniel Vettori recently broke the news in the pre-match press conference.
“AB is back fit, Quinton is away from this game. Quinton has returned home for a wedding so he is unavailable for this match so probably it’s an easy decision for us to make,” the Kiwi said.
Although, this would allow for a straight swap in the RCB line up, de Kock’s unavailability would also lead to a forced change. De Kock may not have been right up there as a batsman in IPL 2018 but he has been sublime with the gloves.
He has taken a couple of awe-inspiring catches behind the wicket which are equivalent to scoring 15-20 extra runs. The catch that he took of Andre Russell in the match against KKR was out of this world.
De Kock’s unavailability would bring in some good news for Parthiv Patel. It is almost certain, that he would fill in for de Kock against CSK. Along with donning the keeping gloves, PP would also open the batting for RCB.
Make no mistake, he is more than a capable batsman and has the potential of taking the attack to the opposition on his day.
