Liverpool face stiff competition from Real Madrid to sign Alisson Becker from AS Roma.
The Brazilian goalkeeper is set to be the first choice for his country in the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Russia. However, he continues to make headlines in the transfer market this summer.
The Roma goalkeeper is linked with many clubs across Europe, Liverpool and Real Madrid being the front-runners among them.
According to a report by Sky, South America footballing expert Tim Vickery has suggested that Real Madrid has entered the race to sign the Brazilian goalkeeper. He added that Liverpool are already monitoring Alisson, following Karius’ poor performance in the Champions League final.
However, Vickery has also said that the Brazilian star doesn’t want to leave Roma. “I understand he is very happy at Roma but there is interest not only from Liverpool but from Real Madrid too,” Sky quoted Vickery as saying.
Alisson is currently with the Brazilian world cup squad and according to Vickery, his focus is solely on the national team.
However, Roma might increase the goalkeeper’s price based on his performance at the world cup.
“He’s an excellent goalkeeper. Brazil stuck with him last season when he spent almost the entire season on the bench for Roma. This season people have seen what a great goalkeeper he is,” says Vickery.
Vickery believes that the Brazilian goalkeeper will be having a vast array of options, should he decide to leave the Italian club.

Earlier, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo dropped a bombshell when they suggested at leaving the club. Bale insisted that he wants more playing time. Ronaldo, on the other hand, assured that he will take a decision on his future “within a week.”
