Red Bull Racing have been in the news all week because of their switch to Honda from Renault after 12 long years.

The decision to switch has been scrutinised heavily as Red Bull were getting good enough performances on the track with Renault.

And they have now decided to move to an engine supplier which has found it tough to deliver good enough reliability with their previous big project with McLaren.

Honda hasn’t been at the top of its game and thus McLaren parted ways with them this year, shifting to Renault in order to get some more reliability on race weekends.

For McLaren the move has worked, as reliability hasn’t been too much of an issue for them this year. However, they haven’t really been able to unleash a lot of performance from that Renault engine, something that has still kept them at bay from the top 3 teams.

Red Bull too have been facing issues to extract the desired performance from that Renault engine and thus have made the decision to go all out and make that leap of faith to Honda.

The two different strategies between McLaren and Red Bull might seem a little perplexing to the average F1 fan, and we’ll have to wait and see as to which team has deciphered where F1 is headed.

And while we do that, Red Bull have taken a sly dig at McLaren for what happened near their area in the pit lane, taking the mickey out of them for another sub-par performance in qualifying.

McLaren are undergoing a turmoil with their backroom staff as a revolt has been staged for the humiliation that the staff has had to suffer for McLaren’s gesture of gifting them with 25p freddo bars.

Also, maybe Red Bull are holding a little grudge because of McLaren’s $20 million/year

Will McLaren respond to this?
