Riot Games is Suing Chinese Company NetEase for Making a 'Copy' of Valorant

Riot Games is suing NetEase for making a copy of their newest FPS Valorant. Riot claims there are substantial parts that feel like a copy.

NetEase has made a new game called HyperFront, which plays precisely like Riot Game’s Valorant. The objective in most of it is to plant bombs for the terrorist side and defusion from the Counter-Terrorist side. However, the format does not matter since it is the basis of most FPS games. The characters might be a slight problem.

Riot sues NetEase over Copying Some Aspects of Valorant

The claim revolves around three or four aspects of Valorant. We will attach some gameplay of HyperFront so you can tell for yourself. However, we have played HyperFront a little, and we know there is some resemblance to Riot’s FPS. In terms of usage, copying even a little bit of the gameplay aspect or character design is illegal because it violates Valorant’s intellectual property.

HyperFront copies the gameplay, character designs, weapon looks, map designs, and a couple of other aspects. This has prompted people to claim that it is the mobile equivalent of Riot’s Fps. The modified version of Riot’s shooter is available on Google Play and the App store and has millions of downloads. This is not the first time NetEase has been sued. They also have a dispute with Korea Corp’s PUBG. If the case goes on any further than it already has, it will spell problems for the Chinese Tech Giant.

However, even Riot recently settled a 100 million dollar lawsuit against Gender Discrimination. Both organizations are knee-deep in problems. However, we do not know what will happen to the tech giant that has Riot filing all the lawsuits against them. We will keep the viewers updated on whatever news we find. Riot’s Valorant-related VCT Tournament begins on February 15th, 2023.
