Riyad Mahrez accidentally appears to reveal that Fernandinho will be leaving Manchester City by the end of the season with David Silva.

Manchester City’s old guards are gradually leaving the ship and now David Silva has also confirmed his exit from the club by the end of the season. Manchester City has already recruited replacements for a smooth transition.

But amidst all of this, Riyad Mahrez, who is having a great time at the Etihad Stadium has appeared to accidentally reveal Fernandinho’s possible exit from Manchester City next summer.

In a video appeared online, which was apparently a Christmas quiz with Sky Sports. Facing off against Benjamin Mendy, the Blues duo were asked to name the player who has revealed that this will be his last season with the club.

Mahrez was first to his buzzer and bellowed: “David and Fernandinho”. The presenter ignored the mention of a Brazilian stalwart, with a point awarded for Silva, but Mendy shot a knowing glance in the direction of his team-mate.

Fernandinho is in the last phase of his career and with Rodri’s arrival, he would not be the top priority in midfield. Currently, the Brazilian midfielder is getting chances in defence as he is filling the void left by Aymeric Laporte who picked a long term injury at the start of the season.

Meanwhile, Fernandinho has remained coy when quizzed on his future. He said back in November when pressed on his plans: “I always say I’ll play until my mind will allow me to play.

“When I feel happy and motivated to play every day this is important. To train happy and fresh everyday so until I don’t feel like this, I will play, but I don’t want to say until 37, 38…40; we shall see.”

The Brazilian International’s contract will expire next summer with no reports circulating on its extension. Thus, it could be speculated that he is on the verge of leaving the Citizens.
