Roger Federer compliments Lionel Messi by labelling him 'Greatest of All Time'

Roger Federer has labelled Lionel Messi as the greatest of all time to play the game of football.

Tennis legend Roger Federer has complimented Lionel Messi by labelling him the Greatest of all time. The Swiss star admits that he is a huge fan of the Argentine and would love to see Messi lift the World Cup one day.

In an interview with the Financial Times, Federer said that Messi always keeps three options within a touching distance which makes it tough for the opponents to keep him quiet.

“What I love about Messi probably most is when he gets the ball and is able to turn the body towards goal, and then he has full vision,” Federer told.

“Then he’s going to pass, or dribble, or shoot.

“There’s always three options for him. He’s one of the few who’s got that.”

The 20-time Grand Slam winner has called Messi the best player in the world before — and he once again committed himself to that statement.

“I think Messi is the best player in the history of football,” he admitted.

“I love watching him play and I hope that one day he can win the World Cup with his national team [Argentina].”

Lionel Messi is currently with Argentine for the Copa America. The Argentine star has not been at his best, but the whole team is performing well. After battling out of the group stages, Argentina beat Venezuela 2-0 in the last eight to set up a clash with Brazil in the Semifinals.

The 32-year-old was part of the side which failed to overcome Chile in the Copa America final on two different occasions. Chile were victorious in 2015 and 2016, putting full-stop to Argentina’s hopes. Should Lionel Messi and Co manage to beat Brazil in the next round, Chile could be their next opponent.

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

Lionel Messi will be eager to break his deadlock and lift the Copa America this time.
