Mumbai Indians have shot themselves in the foot once again in IPL 2018, losing to SRH by 31 runs, despite chasing a meagre target of 119.

A run feast was expected at the Wankhede but the bowlers and the pitch had different ideas.

The Mumbai Indians bowlers restricted the SRH batting unit to 118 and it seemed like the SRH batsman hadn’t quite applied themselves on a pitch that didn’t quite have a lot of demons.

The MI openers walked out and the crowd was expectant, as an easy run chase was on the cards.

But the MI batting unit refused to apply themselves, refused to show character and ended up being dismissed for a lowly 87.

None of the batsmen showed character and Rohit Sharma was baffled in the post match presentation, unable to really decipher as to what transpired at the Wankhede tonight.

Credit has to go to the SRH bowlers as well, for stifling the Mumbai batsmen and not letting them get away with the score at any point during the chase.

Rohit Sharma took the blame for the loss and also demanded a little more from his batsmen.

“We have got ourselves to blame. We should chase down 118 on any wicket, we didn’t show character, the Sunrisers did. Very happy with the way we bowled, they did a brilliant job, but the batsmen let us down once again. They are so many points that I can talk about, but don’t want to pinpoint faults now. We needed to show some intent, which we failed today. We knew it was a tough chase, shot making wasn’t easy, we wanted to have intent at the start. They bowled at the right areas, kept us guessing and we couldn’t recover. Few of us played some bad shots, including myself.” Rohit said.
