Rohit Sharma sends a warning to the South African Team

India would be entering untested waters after a long time, when they fly off to South Africa in a day or two.

The Indian team has enjoyed a terrific home season, brushing aside any and every side that has toured their ‘den’, constructing a huge gap between themselves and all other Test playing nations in the ICC Rankings.

The challenge for Virat Kohli and co. from now on would be how they fair in foreign conditions, and if the team as a whole is able to apply themselves in conditions that demand grit and determination.

Rohit Sharma feels that the Indian team is equipped enough to not only challenge but also come out on top against South Africa in the 3 match test series. He feels that with momentum on their side, people can’t count India out and that India won’t settle for a draw, and will go hard for the win.

Our team, with the kind of cricket we have been playing for the last few years, will be a force to reckon with. We want to go there to win and not settle for a draw,” Rohit said.

“Can’t win thinking of a draw, not even of drawing the last two games after winning the first Test. We have to win everything. The last time we went to South Africa, we had an opportunity to win the series but things didn’t work out. The first Test ended in a draw and we made a mess of the second Test after being in a strong position.” Rohit added.

Ravi Shastri too feels that India have the ammunition to take the attack to South Africa, and will be going all out to change their 25 year history of no series wins there.

The belief is there and we will treat South Africa like we have treated every other opposition. There will be respect but we will go there to play to win.”

The Indian team is currently in Mumbai for Virat Kohli’s reception party and will leave on the 27th of December for Cape Town, with the first test scheduled to begin on the 5th of January.
