After suffering a disappointing loss in the quarter finals of the prestigious All England Championships to third seed Sung Ji-Hyun of Korea, Sania Nehwal has now decided to withdraw from the Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold. (Saina Nehwal will not take part in the Swiss Open !)

This is surprising as Nehwal has had great success as the Swiss Open in the past. She has been a two time winner at this tournament in 2011 and 2012, which makes her decision all the more surprising.

Things have been tough for Saina ever since her underwent a knee operation in September. This has made her very cautious during her comeback matches with a lot of importance given to large rest periods in between tournaments.

This makes 19 year old Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravlli the only entry for India in the women’s draw. (Saina Nehwal will not take part in the Swiss Open !)

There are many people in the men’s singles draw however. Defending champion HS Prannoy is joined by India number one Ajay Jayaram and the Verma brothers Sameer and Sourabh.

Sania Nehwal’s next tournament is the India Open Superseries that is to be held in New Delhi from March 28 to April 2. She won the tournament in 2015 that catapulted her to the pinnacle of the world rankings.

This is not the first time that she has taken a long break since she also did this after winning the Malaysian Masters in January. She took a month off to concentrate on her rehabilitation process which she needed to warm up for the Super series circuit.

Let us how things pan out this time for Saina Nehwal ! (Saina Nehwal will not take part in the Swiss Open !)
