Sarfaraz Ahmed sings Mauka Mauka

Pakistan cricketers were given a heroes welcome when they brought back home the Champions Trophy, winning the final against arch-rivals India. Streets in Pakistan were filled with people going berserk over their cricket team’s success. Sarfaraz Ahmed greeted them from his apartment, waving to them, singing chants with them and embracing the entire celebratory procession.

He also urged the crowd to sing the ‘Mauka Mauka’ song.

During the 2015 World Cup, the Star Sports network came up with a brilliant ‘Mauka Mauka’ ad to celebrate the India-Pakistan rivalry, taking a dig at Pakistan’s world cup record against India. The ad caught the imagination of people in India and was replicated(with a little twist) for every fixture that India played during that World Cup.

A lot of video blogs tried to emulate the ‘Mauka Mauka’ ad after that and came up with a lot of hilarious videos, again, taking a dig at the Pakistani team.

Getting the crowd to sing ‘Mauka Mauka’ was Sarfaraz’s way of poking fun at the Indian fans who had for days used this chant to mock Pakistan’s record against India in World events.

While the fans have always been at loggerheads with each other, the players of the present generation have always tried to maintain a very cordial relationship with each other, on and off the field. The Indian and Pakistani were seen to be sharing a light moment during the presentation ceremony and Azhar Ali was also thankful to Kohli, Dhoni and Yuvraj for meeting with his friends, further showing the amount of camaraderie that these players share.

Sarfaraz’s attempt to troll Indian fans should be taken in good humour, as they have been subject to the same for a long time now. Hopefully India can continue their dominance against Pakistan in the World Events that follow this Champions Trophy.
