Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri decided to bring the laptop into the press conference room of Wembley Stadium to prove that Harry Kane was offside.
There was a lot of controversies when Harry Kane was awarded the penalty against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday in the League Cup Semifinal. When the ball was played, the English striker was in an offside position and he was taken out by the goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalanga which resulted in a penalty.
Chelsea manager was furious with the officials as the decision was consulted by another officiates in the Video Assistant Room. Sarri took out his laptop into the press conference room to prove that the Tottenham Hotspur striker was not level with his defenders.

In all honesty, the officiates got it wrong by viewing it in one angle, but other angle suggests another and indicates that he was ahead of the Blues defense.
Those are the things which show the effectiveness of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR). It has been a huge hit in the 2019 World Cup, Bundesliga, La Liga, and the Serie A, but the recent criticism in England has brought skepticism about the new technology among the fans and the clubs.

Different angle shows Kane is clearly offside. His foot is level but head and knee are offside. Linesman made the correct decision! #TOTCHE @ChelseaFC @FA pic.twitter.com/2BYidPtXJT

In the post-match press conference, Maurizio Sarri vented out his frustration on that decision which proved to be decisive.
“In Italy there is the VAR. In the first period a disaster, even in Italy it was difficult to get used to the system. Here the referees are not ready to use in the right example. Kane was clearly offside, it is not important. More important was the linesman stopped, so he had a big influence on our defenders. I think they need to study better the system. It is strange in the Premier League there is not the system, but in the Carabao Cup there is the system.
I say I saw our video from our camera, maybe the camera of VAR was a different position. But it depends on the position of the camera. You need the camera in line.”

“I think it was a clear penalty, it’s just whether it was offside or not. VAR is there for a reason and I’m sure they got it right.”

There is no doubt that Chelsea would be turned out in this tie to beat their arch-rivals heavily in the second leg at Stamford Bridge on February 24. They will take on Newcastle United in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, followed by London derby against Arsenal.
