Saudi owners at Manchester United: The ruling family of Saudi Arabia is eyeing a takeover of English football giants.

Manchester United didn’t make the best of starts in the Premier League this season. The club is currently 8th in the league with 13 points. Moreover, Jose Mourinho’s side conceded losses to Brighton and West Ham in the league, and lower-league side Derby County in their first match of Carabao Cup.

The season was further marred with controversy, as midfielder Paul Pogba has overtly criticized the manager’s tactics in post-match interviews. After the defeat to Derby County, Mourinho and Pogba were caught arguing during a training session.

Goals have dried up for the club, as United has a goal difference of -1 in the league. Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford have missed significant chances in front of the goal this season.

As United aims to recover from a fairly difficult situation, English outlet Daily Star claims that the club might be ready for a takeover.

Saudi owners at United:

Daily Star reports that the ruling family of Saudi Arabia, the Salmans are eyeing a takeover of the club. The Glazers are currently the owners at Manchester United.

The report claims that the royal family is worth 850 billion pounds. According to the reports from the Middle East quoted by Daily Star, the takeover-worth would be in the region of 4 billion pounds.

This will not be the first time when Manchester United would concern itself with Saudi Arabia. Earlier this year, the club entered a “strategic partnership” with the country, which involves “United lending its business and sporting expertise to clubs, sporting authorities and individuals in Saudi Arabia,” according to the club website.

Manchester United’s managing director Richard Arnold said at the time of entering a partnership, “The club has a long-standing relationship with Saudi Arabia and has over five million passionate fans in the region.

“Having the chance to help shape the football industry in the Kingdom is a great honor and it is something where we believe we can make a big difference.”

What next?

However, it is also reported that there is no such interest of a takeover from Saudi Arabia. VAVEL journalist Mootaz Chehade reports that the news is false and a Saudi investment company is instead eyeing ownership at another Premier League club, Newcastle United.
