Sensational strike by Sadio Mane gives Liverpool the lead in extra-time against Chelsea in their UEFA Super Cup thriller in Istanbul.
Chelsea vs Liverpool has been more thrilling than it had any right to be. With Chelsea’s plight before the season had even started, many assumed that the contest would be a one-sided affair. Chelsea’s transfer embargo meant Frank Lampard could not bring in any new recruits. Liverpool on the other hand chose not to dip in the transfer market. To Klopp’s credit, he does have a very strong team that could do with a little improvement but doesn’t necessarily need it.

Both teams headed to Istanbul with contrasting starts to their Premier League campaign. Chelsea had arrived on the back of a 4-0 drubbing while Liverpool were riding on a 4-1 opener. However, once on the field, very little has separated the two.
Both teams have been brilliant throughout. However, a couple of individual brilliance on either side of the halves has meant that one team has walked with their heads at both intervals. While the first half belonged to Chelsea, Liverpool seized the advantage back minutes after the half-time.
With the game in extra time, both teams were scrambling for the winner. That one goal that would hand them the match. Liverpool were as aggressive as their reputation has suggested and Sadio Mane, as always, was at the heart of the famed fierce attacking plays.

Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane combined to score Liverpool’s first goal tonight. The pair were at it again as Firmino’s pass found Mane. The Senegalese winger then placed the bowl straight into the goal with a brilliant finish.
At the moment of writing, the score is 2-2 courtesy of a penalty from Jorginho. With 15 more minutes to go, this is still anyone’s match.
