Sergio Ramos is currently facing UEFA Charge after receiving a yellow card on purpose against Ajax.

The game between Real Madrid and Ajax was filled with full of controversies. The Los Blancos, at the end, were able to edge the Dutch team to secure a victory and take two away goals to Santiago Bernabeu.

During the first half, when none of the Real Madrid players appealed, the referee decided to view the Video Assistant Referee(VAR) which does not convince any other officiate that the Ajax player was stopping when Courtois was collecting the ball. Nicolas Tagliafico headed the ball from close range, but the decision was overturned with the use of the technology.

During the buildup play to the second goal, Frenkie De Jong was pushed by Lucas Vazquez. But, the referee is just two yards away from that incident failed to notice and refused to go up to the assistant room despite pleading from Ajax players.

During the dying seconds of the game, Sergio Ramos had a confrontation for nothing against the Ajax striker Kasper Dolberg which forced the referee to issue a yellow card.

During the post-match interview, Real Madrid skipper said “Looking at the result, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t force [the booking].

“It is not to underestimate the opponent nor to think that the series is over, but in football you have to make tough decisions,”

He backtracked soon after, however, and said “I want to make it clear that it hurts more than anyone, I have not forced the card, as I did not against Roma in my previous Champions League match.”

By noticing all his comments after the game, the UEFA have decided to take an action against Real Madrid’s number 4 who received a yellow card on purpose against Ajax. It was surely an unnecessary interview from Sergio Ramos who could now face suspension for his comments.

The case with be dealt with the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Committee on February 28. Last week, Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia received a yellow card on purpose and is now facing a two-game ban.

The midfielder was produced a yellow for delaying a free-kick in the 82nd minute while they were 2-0 up against the Scottish Champions Celtic. A caution in the first leg meant he ruled himself out for the second leg.
