Shai Hope catch vs Australia: West Indies wicket-keeper grabs an amazing catch to dismiss Australia’s Usman Khawaja at Trent Bridge

During the 10th match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between Australia and West Indies, the Windies wicket-keeper batsman Shai Hope took an absolute gem of a catch to dismiss the in-form Aussie batsman Usman Khawaja.

It all happened in the last delivery of the 7th over of the Australian innings. Windies all-rounder, Andre Russell bowled a delivery way outside the off-stump. An unsettles Usman Khawaja played a really rash shot as he tried to flash his bat hard at the ball , only to take a thick outside edge off the blade. Shai Hope took an absolute gem, diving to his left hand side as Khawaja walked back to the pavilion for a paltry 13 off 19 balls.

Australia in trouble

After having put into bat first, the Australian side is clearly struggling against the Windies pacers especially against the short deliveries hurled at them. Both the Aussie openers- skipper Aaron Finch and David Warner headed back to the pavilion inside the first 4 overs of the match itself.

The Windies pacers have ployed the similar ‘Bang in at the deck’ strategy with which they dismissed the Pakistan side for a paltry 135 in their first match at the same venue. They have gone in with the same technique today as well, and have been successful so far.

At the time of writing Australia were reeling at 68/4 after 14 overs. Left-arm pacer Sheldon Cottrell has picked up 2 wickets, while Andre Russell and Oshane Thomas have scalper 1 wicket apiece so far.

Both the Windies and Australia had won their opening encounters by defeating Pakistan and Afghanistan respectively by 7 wickets. Windies have got off to a brilliant start, and it will be interesting to see whether they capitalize on to the brilliant start. As a matter of fact, the Windies have won 6 of the previous 8 ODIs they have played at this venue. The only match they lost here was way back in 1974.
