We are just a few days away until India plays in first test in South Africa, the team has been rocked with some bad news concerning their star opener, Shikhar Dhawan.

Dhawan was seen limping in the team hotel in Mumbai, with his ankle being heavily strapped. The southpaw was struggling to walk, as people were surprised to see the Indian opener in such a condition.
The left hander was last seen in the ODI series against Sri Lanka, where he was adjudged the Man of the Series for his superlative performances with the bat.
Dhawan will travel to South Africa, but will have to undergo several tests before he can be adjudged fit for the upcoming tour. This is a huge blow to team India, as Dhawan is one of the pillars of this Indian side.

This is what a senior BCCI official had to say about Dhawan,
“Shikhar Dhawans ankle is being assessed. The physio is yet to give any report to the national selectors. As of now, he is travelling with the team. However, it cant be ascertained whether he will be available for the first Test match or not,”
The Delhi opener is part of a core group of players who are crucial to India’s success over the next eighteen months. After an unprecedented year of success at home, team India will be looking to be successful abroad, as they will tour South Africa, England, Australia and New Zealand over the next year or so.
With the first test match starting on 5th January, team India will be hoping to have their left hander fit and healthy. Let’s hope for both Dhawan and India’s sake that he makes a quick recovery!
