The 35th match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 will be played between Sri Lanka and South Africa at Chester-le-Street today. While South Africa have been knocked out of the tournament, the contest is a crucial one for Sri Lanka as they still can qualify for the semi-finals.
With a couple of wins in six matches, Sri Lanka are at No. 7 on the points table. On the other hand, with a lone victory in seven matches, South Africa are at No. 9 on the points table.
SL vs SA Dream 11 Prediction
Wicket-keepers for SL vs SA Dream 11
Sri Lanka wicket-keeper batsman Kusal Perera is my only wicket-keeper batsman for this match. Having scored a couple of half-centuries in four matches, Perera has given signs of doing well in the tournament. While Perera likes the ball coming on the bat, he will be provided with the same by the South African bowling attack.
Batsmen for SL vs SA Dream 11
My first batsman in this fantasy team is Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne. In four ODIs, the southpaw has scored 180 runs at an average of 60 and a strike rate of 73.46 and is the highest run-scorer for his team.
Veteran Sri Lanka batsman Angelo Mathews brushed off his lean patch after scoring 85* (115) with the help of five fours and a six against England. Knowing the current form of the South African team, Mathews would be eager to add to their misery today.
In Sri Lanka’s Avishka Fernando and South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen, I have picked a couple of rookie batsman for this match. While Fernando took on the English bowlers with his praiseworthy 49 (39) in the last match, van der Dussen (216 runs at an average of 54 and a strike rate of 87.44 including two half-centuries) has arguably been South Africa’s best batsman in the tournament.
All-rounders for SL vs SA Dream 11
Sri Lanka all-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva was on a roll against England when he picked up the wickets of Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes and Adil Rashid within a span of nine balls. With Proteas also susceptible against spinners, expect Karunratne to give a longer run with the ball to de Silva.
The other two all-rounders include the South African pair of Chris Morris and Andile Phehlukwayo. Both the cricketers have regularly performed well and hence been a consistent pair in my Dream11 teams comprising of South Africa.
Among the South African fast bowlers, Morris (nine wickets in six matches) and Phehlukwayo (eight wickets in seven matches) are their two highest wicket-takers in the tournament so far.
Bowlers for SL vs SA Dream 11
Veteran Sri Lanka fast bowler Lasith Malinga is the only Sri Lankan specialist fast bowler in this team. Having dismissed eight batsmen in four matches at an average of 23.62, an economy rate of 5.96 and a strike rate of 23.7, Malinga is Sri Lanka’s highest wicket-taker in the tournament so far. With bowling figures of 10-1-43-4, Malinga was the Man of the Match in the last match against England.
South Africa leg-spinner Imran Tahir is their highest wicket-taker in the tournament and there remains no reasons for me to not pick him. Tahir has it in him to prove a formidable force against the Sri Lankan middle-order.
Accompanying Tahir will be South Africa fast bowler Lungi Ngidi. In nine ODIs against Sri Lanka, Ngidi has dismissed 18 batsmen at an average of 18.77, an economy rate of 5.39 and a strike rate of 20.8. Get him in!
SL vs SA Fantain Prediction
Talking about the Fantain Prediction, I have selected the same team. On this platform, the same team has saved as many as six credits for me. If a budget constraint stopped you from picking an expensive player in Dream11, you can make the change over here. Having said that, I would suggest you to continue with the same squad.
