Marcus Rashford compared to Rooney and Ronaldo

Solskjaer compared Marcus Rashford to Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Marcus Rashford broke through the first team when Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial were injured in 2016. In three years time, he is one of the integral members of the squad under the temporary manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The English International was frozen out Jose Mourinho by using him through the left wing where is output was very less. On the other hand, since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has arrived in mid-December, the starlet has been operating through the middle.

He repays the manager’s trust by contributing much more to the final third. The 21-year-old recently scored against Brighton which proved to be vital to take all three points home, thereby netting 5 goals and assisting one in the last six Premier League games.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who is currently occupying the managerial hot seat is loving to work with the 21-year-old. Besides, the Norwegian has made his intentions right by choosing Rashford over Romelu Lukaku as the Number 9 for Manchester United.

“If you look at the stats, I was told that he is younger than Ronaldo and Rooney to reach 150 appearances for Manchester United.

“Not bad, is it? The 150th game is a feat in itself, being 21, but with the level of his performance, the maturity in his finishing and his work rate, it’s a dream to have players like him in the team.” Solskjaer said.

With that game against the Seagulls, Marcus Rashford made his 150th Premier League appearance. By taking up the field on these occasions, he becomes the youngest player to achieve these feet. Besides, his numbers have been staggering for a teenager with 41 goals and 23 assists in the league alone for the Red Devils.

When he was asked if current Manchester United striker can be compared to Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo, he does not deny that he is as good as those two were at this age.

“Definitely. He can be absolutely top class. He’s playing the best football of his career. He’s got a great future.”

There is no doubt that Solskjaer has tweaked Marcus Rashford into more goalscoring player than he was before.

“You’re on the training pitch with him, but it’s more talking to him and getting inside his head. That’s what I like the most, to find out what he’s thinking.

“He’d missed a couple of chances before I arrived and the first thing I said to him when I met him was, ‘No, problem, you’ll be all right as long as you settle down a little bit.”

There were many reports quoting that the 21-year-old will be handed over a new contract as his current deal expires in 2021. He is said to double his wages from 75,000 pounds to 150,000 pounds as per the reports.

Since the Norwegian was appointed as the manager of the Red Devils, they have won their last seven games in all competitions. With this magnificent consistent results, they are just three points shy of Chelsea who are currently occupying the fourth spot.
