Southampton vs Arsenal highlights: Arsenal’s unbeaten run finally came to an end with a 3-2 defeat at Southampton.
Arsenal suffered a shocking 3-2 defeat at Southampton as their 21-game unbeaten run finally came to an end. The Gunners came from behind twice, but Charlie Austin scored the winner in the 85th minute to seal an emphatic victory for Southampton.
This is Southampton’s only second win in the Premier League, and the results takes them out of the relegation zone
Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored twice for Arsenal in both the halves, but couldn’t see them through to the win.
Arsenal remain at fifth and are three points behind Chelsea, who beat Brighton 2-1 earlier tonight. While they will remain in the top-5 irrespective of the result of the game between United and Liverpool, Jose Mourinho’s side can bridge the gap to five points with the Gunners with a win.
Here are some of the best reactions to the game:
Needed this loss as a wake up call really. Emery needs to start our best players whenever possible and play them in their preferred position. Not blaming him but we need to do better than this.
Not an improvement from last year in terms of defending.

Banter will still flow but Arsenal shouldn’t beat themselves up because of this loss.
They have stability and an identity that could have taken Emery even longer to provide so all is still good.

FT: 3-2. Poor performance by Arsenal, unbeaten run over.

Arsenal losing away to a Southampton team that have ZERO points at home this season is the most Arsenal thing Arsenal have done this season.

You can talk about the 20+ match unbeaten run all you want, fact of the matter is Arsenal gave this same performance in more than half of those unbeaten matches. Long overdue result.

Only Arsenal can make Tottenham look like WBA and Southampton look like Barcelona in a span of two weeks.
