The Group J of Europa League is nicely poised for the final match-week of the first round of the tournament. Standard Liege secured a stunning three points against the Spanish side, as they kept their nerve in a 1-0 victory.
With this win, both the sides are on 9 points. While Sevilla will face the group toppers FC Krasnodar to secure a berth in the round-of-32, Standard Liege will meet Turkish side Akhisar Belediyespor, who are yet to score a point in the competition.
While the Belgian side won the game, they had a chance to grab a second goal in the injury-time, but what followed was a comedy of errors which saw a stunning save by Sevilla’s goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik, and a shocking miss a few seconds later.

In the final minutes of the game, Sevilla pushed their men forward in a desperate attempt to equalize in the game. However, the Belgian side won the ball, and it was followed by a rapid counter-attack.
A poor clearance almost resulted in an own goal by Sevilla, but Vaclik made an incredible effort to prevent the Belgian side get a second goal. However, the danger hadn’t thwarted yet.
Moussa Djenepo, who scored the first goal of the game, almost had his brace on a platter, hit the crossbar from the centre of the box.

Standard Liege managed to hold on to the lead and have now strengthened their position in a bid for the round-of-32 spot.
