Steve Kerr has the privilege of coaching Stephen Curry, an all-time great. He also played with another all-time great, Michael Jordan. Steve also made one of the NBA’s most famous game-winners. All-in-all, his legacy is solidified as an NBA great. Be it in coaching or in play.

So, when asked about the current state of affairs, he couldn’t help but draw parallels in the league. He talks about how playing in the 90s was far different and how the game has evolved today.
In doing so, he makes comparisons. But not the abject ones that you or I make. No, there is no room for Michael Jordan vs LeBron James here. Instead, his comparisons mirror the play style and the personalities of players.

In Dubs Talk: A Golden State Warriors Podcast, Kerr talks about how stars today are different. They are unique, not just in talent, but in terms of personality.
He says, “I see Steph (Curry) and Tim Duncan, as a human as a leader”. A valid comparison. Steph is as nice off the court as he is nice on it. And so was the Big Fundamental.
He continues, “when I see Michael Jordan, I see Draymond green, (a) totally different player but a guy who is dominant from a personality standpoint“. Again he makes a point. Draymond embodies a winner’s mentality, and so did Mike. Both have multiple championships to their name.
He talks about his final comparison, “LeBron-Scottie Pippen, someone who cares about his teammate, pass(es) the ball, share(es) the ball.”. Once again, he sees something we don’t.

Kerr’s love for Steph is highlighted by his comparison with former teammate, Tim Duncan!
Stephen Curry, and Tim Duncan, parallels are eerily similar if you think about it. And while you may think Michael Jordan might have been a more appropriate comparison, you’d be wrong.
Steve highlights that both have built a great culture and are excellent teammates. “Curry takes great pride in the leader that he is, he leads by example.”, Steve says.
Kerr adds that having an all-timer like Steph helps ease the burden off the franchise.
“The tone he sets when he walks in, a love for the game, for the process.”, Steve says is what makes it such a joy to work with Stephen. And while his absence might be hurting the team right now, we are sure Curry will change things for GSW once he is back.
