Former New Zealand captain and current Chennai Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming was recently vocal about Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. In an interview, Fleming talked at length about India’s 37-year old wicket-keeper batsman.
Fleming and Dhoni share a relation which dates back to the first season of the IPL, i.e., 2008. After playing for CSK in 2008, Fleming was roped in as a coach in the subsequent season. Since then, he has been with the team.
During the two years when Chennai Super Kings were banned from the IPL (Indian Premier League), Fleming had worked with Dhoni at Rising Pune Supergiant. For a coach to have worked with a captain for a decade, one expects him to know a few secrets about the latter.
Fleming is currently a member of Star Sports Dug Out, which is covering the ongoing Asia Cup. Talking during today’s match between India and Bangladesh, Fleming let out this secret while Dhoni was keeping wickets in the first innings. It is something which Dhoni’s plethora of fans are likely to relish.
As per a report in DNA India, The New Zealander said that Dhoni never does keeping drills with his IPL side, CSK, and his wonderful keeping skills have always come naturally. In fact, CSK’s fielding coach, Steve Rixon, also has never managed to convince Dhoni to during his wicketkeeping drills during their training sessions.
India, who are unbeaten in the tournament so far, bundled out Bangladesh on 173 in 49.1 overs. In which was a clinical effort on the part of Indian bowlers, they supported captain Rohit Sharma’s decision of winning the toss and electing to field.
Despite going through an inconsistent run, Dhoni’s fans are still praising him on social media platform Twitter. Watch some of the tweets:
