Suresh Raina’s Indian career can be described as one of unfulfilled expectations. He burst on to the scene as a teenager in the mid 2000s, as the graceful left hander also made a name for himself as an electric presence on the field.

On the field, Raina has the gift of making any catch easy, while someone like a Yuvraj Singh on the other hand makes an easy catch look difficult. The left hander though really made a name for himself in the Indian Premier League.

No batsman has shone as much as Suresh Raina has done in the history of the IPL, as he was the batting linchpin for the Chennai Super Kings.

Even with the Gujarat Lions, Raina never failed to perform as he was always one of the highest run scorers for his team. But he never managed to win the IPL title with his new team, and will try to change that from this year.

Chennai Super Kings retained MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja ahead of the IPL auction, as Raina will now return to Chennai.

“Playing with MS I think it’s always good to go back in your own den and you know everything so well. I’ve become a matured player there. I’ve worked with Stephen Fleming, Kepler Wessels, Matthew Hayden, Michael Hussey,” he said.

“I’ve been lucky to have many left-handers in my team when I started off and having MS Dhoni in your side is great because he is so calm. The best thing about him is he does each and everything very calmly. I’m very excited to play in yellow again.”

“Definitely. I’ve played all those tournaments and domestic competitions and I haven’t missed a single game. It’s just a matter of one good season and I will be back because I am a fighter and I love what I got from my team — India and always try to win games for my country and coming back to CSK will give me one more season to improve as a person and a player.”

CSK fans will be eagerly waiting for their first match at the Chepauk, as the Chennai crowd will want to see their yellow army back in town. Let’s hope for their sake, that Raina and co perform for them this season.
