Tekken 8 appearance at The Game Awards confirmed

Bandai Namco’s premier fighting franchise will soon get a proper reveal as Tekken 8 is confirmed to appear at The Game Awards. Initially confirmed to be in development at EVO 2022, Tekken 8 is ready for a bigger reveal. Bandai Namco recently posted a trailer on Twitter, confirming a December 8 reveal at The Game Awards. The 30-second trailer reveals nothing else, with #SAVETHED8 urging players to tune in for the full reveal.

More Tekken 8 details to emerge on December 8, 2022, at The Game Awards

The latest successor in the Tekken franchise was first revealed back in August at EVO 2022. Following up, Bandai Namco released another trailer in September, this time showing off proper gameplay. The visual upgrade was immediately apparent as Jin and Kazuya went head to head in the trailer. Skin texture, particle effects, and the overall visual presentation indicated that the game would be current-gen only. This was later confirmed with the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC being the only target platforms.

As of now, no technical details regarding the game have been specified. With the release of Tekken 7 more than half a decade ago, its successor has a lot of expectations to match. Despite a seasonal structure with frequent balance changes for Tekken 7, the community is ready for a new title. As of now, a Steam listing for Tekken 8 does exist, but details are scarce. Here’s what the page has to say:

“The TEKKEN series is breaking into a new era! The longest-running story in a video game franchise is coming back with state-of-the-art graphics and powerful new rivalries.”

While it’s uncertain if a playable demo will be available at The Game Awards, fans can expect to see more gameplay footage by December 8. Catch The Game Awards live stream over on  YouTube or Twitch.
