Novak Djokovic is all set to battle it out for his 4th US Open title. The Serbian has always been a trailblazer for the game, with his unique methods and mentality now being admired by a large part of the tennis community. Djokovic recently revealed that he has again chosen to stay at a friend’s estate in New Jersey, which is outside of New York City for the entire duration of the tournament. In 2020, Djokovic was reportedly furious at the managers of the hotel he was staying in since his room windows were not opening it all and with him not allowed to go out without a mask, the indoor suffocation got onto him and his team members.
The estate is reported to be worth a whopping $40 million. It actually consists of a state of the art tennis facility. This enables Novak Djokovic to not only stay there with his family and team but also to practice away from the media and public spotlight. Apparently, Djokovic has been availing this particular facility on rent since the last couple of years (apart from 2022 since he was not permitted to play) as it suits his specific requirements much more than a normal apartment or hotel in NYC and is definitely very spacious.
Novak Djokovic house just 24 miles away from Flushing Meadows
As per NJ.com, the estate in which Novak Djokovic is residing in at the moment is owned by former professional tennis player, Gordon Uehling and is of 40 acres. It is situated in Alpine in New Jersey, which is often called as the Beverly Hills of the city since it caters to those well-off people who prefer the tranquility that is usually not present in a big city.
For two weeks, Djokovic will be neighbors with the likes of Stevie Wonder and Chris Rock. But he also ensures that he completes all his other off-court commitments as well as have a fun time in New York City, which includes meeting people like Lionel Messi.
Pretty sure this is the Alpine, NJ estate where Novak Djokovic is staying during the U.S. Open.
It’s owned by Gordon A. Uehling III, a former tour player and longtime friend who has turned the property into a high-tech tennis facility.

The best part about the estate for Novak Djokovic is that it is just 24 miles away from the main Arthur Ashe Stadium. It gives Novak Djokovic some much needed privacy and perhaps more freedom to strategize against his opponents by coming up with secret moves for his upcoming matches. Additionally, the property has four tennis courts, all of different surfaces. Djokovic calls this ‘All 4 Grand Slams under one roof’.
The Serbian was quoted as saying in an interview –
“Normally before the tournament starts, I’m in the (New York) city. Once the tournament starts, we go into full lockdown mode. My friend has a beautiful estate there with tennis courts. Just me and my family, we stay there. We have a relaxing time. It’s great in the off days between the matches, you just kind of recharge, rejuvenate, and you’re able to come out and really have more energy.
“I just feel like the city is amazing, but after a while it starts being a distraction. When the tournament starts, what you need is the tranquility, just taking things day by day.
“I went to Tenafly, N.J. a few times, had a haircut there. I don’t remember the name of the hair salon but very nice people.”
Djokovic pays $40,000 in rent
According to BroBible, Novak Djokovic pays his friend a whopping $40,000 in rent every year to avail the facilities of the estate. While the results haven’t been in the 23-time Grand Slam champion’s favor in New York City since 2018, Djokovic is a firm believer in his methods. For the legend who is blessed with riches, shelling out $40,000 isn’t a big deal as his priority is to get himself into the best state of physicality and mentality to be dominant even at the age of 36.
Novak Djokovic is all set to take on the unseeded Alexander Muller in his Round of 128 match at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, which is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 28, 8.15 PM EST.
