Nick Kyrgios Gives Chris Eubanks '0% Chance' to Win at Wimbledon

Nick Kyrgios is one of the players who is being missed sorely at the Wimbledon 2023 Championships. The mercurial Australian star, who made it to the men’s singles final in 2022, is making his presence felt at least on social media. Kyrgios is one of those few players to explicitly express themselves in public, which sometimes lands him in trouble as well.

And it has on this occasion as well. Kyrgios has responded to a fan comment on Twitter, concerning the rise of the United States’ Chris Eubanks. While some users have agreed with the Australian for his straightforward opinion, there are many who have blatantly disagreed with his prediction for different reasons.

Nick Kyrgios does not read much into Chris Eubanks’ rise

Nick Kyrgios had a run himself in the Wimbledon 2022 edition, which very few would have put their monies on. Kyrgios made it to the final against all odds, also co-incidentally defeating Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas on the way. He managed to get a walkover in the semi-final in which he was to face the in-form Rafael Nadal.

Here are some of the reaction to Kyrgios’ tweet –

Nick Kyrgios has predicted that not even Chris Eubanks’ quarterfinal opponent, Daniil Medvedev stands a chance to win the tournament as Novak Djokovic is the clear favorite to win. Eubanks and Medvedev play on Wednesday on Centre Court, with the winner most likely taking on the winner of the quarterfinal between Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune.

Christopher Eubanks Wimbledon 2023 journey and the year so far

Eubanks is having a tournament to remember and one which the tennis community won’t forget for a long time surely. In the Round of 64, perhaps few may have predicted that he would beat one of the home favorites and World No.13, Cam Norrie. But he did so in 4 sets and that catapulted him to more global fame.

Eubanks could be extremely proud of himself since being an American, grass is not his favorite court by any stretch of imagination. Yet, having won 9 grass matches in a row now has made him believe that he can compete at the highest level against the best on any court on any given day.

Across 2023, he has also beaten players like Adrian Mannarino (twice), fellow American Denis Kudla, Borna Coric and Lloyd Harris, showing how much he has improved on both grass and hard courts.
