The Chelsea supremo lifted the award after guiding the side to an unbeaten month
When Chelsea had decided to wield the axe and part ways with Lampard, the club’s next managerial choice was ardently awaited. And when the Premier League side had ended by brining Thomas Tuchel on board, not many were sold with the idea of the German coach.
However, all he has needed are two months to dispel his naysayers. Taking over a haywire Chelsea side, Tuchel has completely transformed the club within his first couple of months with the side recording some stunning results in the month of March.
The most notable were the side’s triumphs against Liverpool in the Premier League and the two successes against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. Unbeaten in his first 13 matches in charge of the club, Tuchel has gone onto concede a scanty two goals in the period.
Tuchel Conferred With March’s Award
The remarkable showings have been rewarded with adequately with Tuchel being serenaded with the Premier League’s Manager of the Month award for the month of March. Tuchel was chuffed on receiving the honour as he went onto allude the accolade to his squad.
“I am really happy to have received this award and I believe it is a great achievement for everybody at the club who is involved in putting the team together to play each week,” said Tuchel.
“The award would not be possible if it wasn’t for the hard work of all my coaching staff and the wider support team who all push the team in the same direction, to achieve success.
“Lastly, I want to acknowledge the hard work of the players who have given me their maximum efforts and commitment since I arrived and we hope we can keep this strong run going until the very end of the season.”
Iheanacho Wins Player of the Month Award
Meanwhile, Leicester City’s striker, Kelechi Iheanacho was bestowed with the prestigious player of the month award for the bygone month.
Iheanacho said: “I’m so pleased and honoured to win this award. It’s great to be recognised, but I couldn’t have done it without the support of my team-mates and the manager.
“I’m really enjoying playing at the minute and hopefully I can push on and help the team to finish as high as possible this season.”
