The first match of the fourth season of the Tamil Nadu Premier League will be played between Dindigul Dragons and Chepauk Super Gillies at Dindigul tomorrow. In what will be the fourth edition of the tournament, it will present another chance to the budding cricketers of the state to stake a claim in the formats at a higher level.

Talking about both the teams’ performance in the last season, the points table had witnessed a significant difference between them. With five wins in seven matches, Dragons had topped the points table and were eventually the runners-up.

On the other hand, with a lone victory in seven matches, Super Gillies had finished at the bottom of the points table. In what is a fresh season, Super Gillies would be hoping for a change in fortune for them.

In the last match that both the teams had played against each other, Dragons had comprehensively defeated the Super Gillies by 9 wickets. After Dragons captain Narayan Jagadeesan won the toss and chose to field, Dragons bundled out Super Gillies for 120 in 19.3 overs.

With bowling figures of 4-0-16-3, M Silambarasan was the pick of the bowlers for Dindigul. It was Jagadeesan’s unbeaten half-century which saw DD seal the chase in the 14th over. Opening the batting with Hari Nishanth (34), Jagadeesan ended up scoring 63* (43) with the help of seven fours and three sixes.
